Piney Mountain Foster Care resides on a mountainside property in Edwina Tennessee.  Our specialty is caring for dogs going through heartworm treatment, but also take in those other health problems or with behavior issues.  When adoptable, these dogs are transported to other rescues (mostly east coast) for adoption. See the Canine Rescue Partners page for details.

Our Facility

Our facilities include a 1/3 acre fenced play yard, three 10′ x 10′ x 6′ chain link pens with roofs, deep pea gravel floors, dog houses, and raised beds for nice weather accommodations and a heated building with an assortment of crates for foul-weather accommodations of non-housebroken dogs.  Each dog gets multiple play/training sessions each day when they are allowed to run, play, and train in our large, fenced yard.

Our Mentors

Cochise was our first foster dog back in 2012. We fell in love with and adopted him. Blondie was our 5th foster and Cochise fell in love with her (so did we) and convinced us to keep her as well. Together they help us train the foster dogs. They are mentors, roll models, and interpreters. Cochise also tells the Doggy Tales stories you will find on my Random Thoughts blog. (NOTE: Cochise passed away May 3rd of 2018 — I just haven’t brought myself to delete him from this page. He was an excellent mentor and a HUGE part of our training of foster dogs. He was My Best Boy and I still love him deeply.)

Foster Dogs Past & Present

Below are photos, names and residency dates of our fosters.

Until adopted, each dog gets a Notes On A Rescue Dog page that offers photos and video of that dog interacting with people and other dogs as well as descriptions of their personality, habits, and progress in training.  As adopter Debra Sollitto told us, “I have read your blog about Julian many times. It was posted by Meryl on the Fur Friends in Need Facebook page. That blog and the videos of Julian are the main reason that we pursued this adoption. After I met Julian at the adoption event and saw those videos, I knew that I had to have this dog”.
